The SUNY Orange Phone System is a Cloud-based Voice over IP (VoIP) communications platform. It is called Avaya Cloud Office (ACO).
When you are assigned a dedicated Phone Number/Extension, this extension is tied to your internal identity. If you have a physical phone, that phone is also tied to your identity - it is not tied to the Office or Department. If you change Offices or Departments, the number and phone (if applicable) will move with you.
Your phone number is 2 things. You can both Send and Receive the following:
- Calls
- Fax
Accessing the Phone System
Note: When accessing any Phone-related Application, please use the Single Sign-on button to log into the system.
SoftPhone - PC Application
On your SUNY Orange Workstation, the Avaya Cloud Office application should already be installed. You can find it in the Start Menu.
When you launch the application, you should have an option to Sign In with Single Sign On. This is the best way to access the system.
SoftPhone - Web Application
Avaya Cloud Office can also be accessed from a Web Browser - no installation required. This can be done from any computer anywhere in the world.
- Log into the Phone Portal (https://phone.sunyorange.edu)
- Find the 9-dot menu in the top right
- Select Web App
- If you use this often, you can Bookmark the webpage for easier access in the future
SoftPhone - Mobile App
You can find the Avaya Cloud Office mobile App in the iPhone App Store as well as the Android Play Store. When using this app, the call uses WiFi or Mobile Data, rather than your personal phone/number. You can receive and place calls calls using your work number. You can configure Office Hours in the app, so that it doesn't ring after hours.
Physical Phone
A physical phone is available to use if you like. If you've been issued a physical phone but prefer the other options, you can request to have it removed. If you didn't receive one, but would like one, you can request one.
Please note:
- The physical phone lacks many of the features available in the SoftPhone, which may or may not affect you
- Only one physical phone can be attached to your number. If you work in multiple locations, you will need to use the SoftPhone in the secondary location
Phone Portal
https://phone.sunyorange.edu will bring you to the Settings website. Here, you can check Voicemail/Fax, configure various Settings, and access quick links to Apps and Support.
If you are a Call Queue Manager, this is where you can perform various administrative tasks for that purpose.
