Banner Self-Service (SSB)

Banner Admin (PROD, TEST, or PPRD)

All current employees and registered students have a “minimum” level of access to Banner SSB to see their OWN personal data

 

Banner Admin is sometimes referred to as “Banner PROD”, “Native Banner” or  "Banner INB".  This is reserved for employees who need to manage student, faculty, financial, and human resource data.

A VPN connection is required to access Banner Admin from off-campus.

Banner SSB) access is granted by various dept. data owners. Banner Admin(PROD,TEST,PPRD) access is granted by the IT Dept

Registered Students can:

  • Access personal information, emergency alert settings
  • register for classes
  • check grades, unofficial transcript, or schedule
  • check/pay account balances, setup payment plans
     

Active Faculty & Staff can:

  • Access personal information, emergency alert settings
  • Check class rosters, enter grades, view/manage advisees
  • View/enter Purchase Requisitions, operational budget queries, and handle various finance related tasks

Active Faculty & Staff:

  • those who need to manage/enter student, faculty, financial, and human resource data
  • Examples include Student Services for creating student records, Admissions for application processing, the Business Office for budget entry, and Department Chairs for budget management viewing. 

Requests for Access to Banner Admin must:

  • Be requested/approved by your supervisor
  • Have a legitimate need for access to department/organization-wide data
  • Include the forms/applications needed using seven letter object names
    (i.e SPAIDEN, SPRIDEN, SAAEAPS, SFAREGS, FGITBSR, FGIBSDT, and so forth).  

 

Types of Banner Access: What’s it called AND who grants it.
 

  • Banner Self-Service (SSB): Class List

Instructors who are actively teaching a class can view their own (CRN) class list (often called class roster).  This access is automatically given at the time they are “assigned” to their classes in Banner. 

**Banner Class List access is controlled by REGISTRAR processes.
 

  • Banner Self-Service (SSB): Student Profiles

Instructors who are actively teaching a class can view the student profiles limited within their assigned CRN(s) class list(s).  This access is automatically given at the time they are “assigned” to their classes in Banner.

**Banner Student Profile access is controlled by REGISTRAR processes.
 

  • Banner Self-Service (SSB): Advising Faculty Access

Employees whose job requires access to view any/all student profiles in the entire organization.  Examples are employees of the Admissions and Student services for advising students or the IT Service Desk team for identity verification purposes.

**Full time Faculty:     Banner Advising Faculty access is granted by the REGISTRAR office.
**Adjunct Faculty:      Banner Advising Faculty access is granted by the AVP office (Sasha DeNeve).
**Staff:                        Banner Advising Faculty access is granted by the REGISTRAR office.

 

  • Banner Self-Service (SSB): Class List Administrator

Employees whose job requires access to view all CRN class lists in the entire organization.  Examples are employees of the Registrar for course scheduling or the Student Success Coaches for entire class outreach tutoring purposes.

**Banner Class List Administrator access must be must be requested by your supervisor by way of Ticket to the IT Dept   (may require approved from Registrar).

  • Banner Self-Service (SSB): Finance Self-Service (SS)

Employees who need to enter purchase requisitions which they submit for approval to a supervisor. 

**Banner Self-Service Finance access is a two-step process.
     Step 1. Banner Finance SS Access must be requested by your supervisor by way of Ticket to the the IT Dept 
 
               AND
     Step 2. Individual budget/account(s) codes access is granted by the Business Office

Banner Admin (PROD, TEST, or PPRD) (VPN required for off campus access)
