Accessing OneDrive Folder or File shared with you and Shortcuts

When someone shares a folder(s) or file(s) in Microsoft OneDrive or Teams, you will be able to access them immediately through SUNYOrange OneDrive Web online section titled "Shared".   Follow the instructions below on how to get there.

1. Browse to SUNYOrange OneDrive Web, this will bring you to your onedrive web "My Files" area.

2. Then click on the "Shared" link on the left navigation pane.  The right side will show you what folder(s)/ file(s) that have been shared to you by others.

If you would like to add a shortcut to the shared folder in your Local Windows File Explorer (This PC) you can follow the instructions below.

  1. Browse to your OneDrive Web, in the navigation pane, select Shared > With you.

  2. Find the specific folder or File you want to add, and click the circle in the folder's tile to select it.

  3. Select Add shortcut to My files Or you can right-click the folder, and then select Add shortcut to My files.

4.  You should now be able to open Windows Explorer (this pc) and see the shortcut under your Documents.  Please keep in mind that it could take a minute or two to show up as it must synchronize to your OneDrive Web.

Important: The Add shortcut to My files option isn't available (will not display) when:

  • You already added the folder to your OneDrive, or you have more than one folder selected. (You can't add multiple folders or files at the same time.)

  • You've already added 100 shortcuts in the same document library.
