Using WinAuth Application for MFA

This is a desktop application (executable) that will run on a Windows OS computer, laptop, or launched from a thumb drive.  Anytime you are prompted to use two factor authentication (MFA) for MySUNYOrange, WinAuth will create a new access code that you will need to enter as part of your portal login.  
The setup of the WinAuth application is a one-time process.          

1. Download WinAuth on to your Windows Desktop

Open your web browser and go to https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JNqqOWSZDPgu5qUvL7Ca7lwJNJGqtRYR/view?usp=sharing

 

2. Configure Alternative APP in Browser

Open a web browser and Sign in to the MFA setup https://aka.ms/setupsecurityinfo (use your MySUNYOrange credentials).
    **** NOTE: You may be prompted for verification in order to proceed depending on your current setup****
One of the following two scenarios will happen depending on your current MFA registration status.

 

3. Configure WinAuth software on Desktop

 

3. Finalize MFA setup on Browser

 

4. Finalize WinAuth Setup on Desktop

This is YOUR personalized WinAuth.exe software and will work only for your account.

Think of it as a “code generator” personalized to you for security access to your account in addition to your password.

From now onward, you can run WInAuth,(from your desktop,portable drive,cloud storage), copy the code that it generates, and paste it in MySUNYOrange for the two-step verification process.
